Working Moms Guide To StressWorking moms are like machines with a heart and soul in place. Whether they work from home or an office, whether they are employed or run their own business – no matter what they do, they are perpetually thinking about home, about their kids, the cooking, the cleaning, the maidservant and, of course, their husbands. And don't forget all the office work they have to do as a working person. All of this combines to make a troublesome cocktail of worries – the result is that almost all working moms are stressed out on a daily basis, and we can't allow the hand that rocks the cradle to fall ill, can we? So here are a few stress-busting tips for working moms. Here we go: 1. All working moms must somehow take out some 15–20 minutes to perform light deep-breathing exercises. Here is an exercise that can help you: Sit down in any posture you are comfortable in; relax your muscles; run a relaxation check on your body – if your forehead is creased, smoothen it; if your shoulders are stiff, hang them loose, and so on. Then close your eyes and focus your attention on the area that is between your eyes; breathe naturally; slowly chant a magic word every time you exhale – this magic word can be anything, religious or inspirational or whatever. Perform this exercise for about 15–20 minutes. 2. Don't carry work home with you – it is sure to cause friction in the family. 3. Use the time and management skills that you have picked up in office at home too. Assume your family members to be your colleagues and begin designating small tasks to them. Once they get involved, your stress will evaporate. 4. No matter how the day at the office went, you have to be patient and kind at home. If you snap back at your family members or pick on them, they will grow to hate you. Just be reasonable and practical at home and the stress-free times will follow. 5. Spend quality, fun time with the family. 6. Allot some 30 minutes for exercise at home, and watch some TV while you're at it. Don't forget to perform some stretching exercises. Exercise makes you feel good and ready to take on a new challenge. 7. If despite your best efforts, your stress is not going away, then you need to see a health professional and let him tackle the problem. Working moms have very little time for themselves and so they need to make the best use of it. If they follow some of the tips given above, they will not just rock the cradle, they'll rule their own stress-free world.
