To Stress Or Not To Stress, That Is The Question...Just about everyone has some sort of stress in their life. No matter who they are or where they are. There are hundreds of situations that we deal with every day that contribute to stress or that are situations that we can create stress over. The question then becomes whether or not the situation is worth the stress that will be generated by worrying about it. Ultimately there are very few situations that need the level of stress that we generate for ourselves. Since there are almost always ways to deal with a situation that can eliminate the amount of stress that is created by it chances are if you are asking yourself whether you should stress over it. The answer should be no. It is more productive to find a solution to whatever the situation is than it is to generate stress over that situation. Taking the time to sit back and look over the situation is the first step. Once you have a clear view of the situation you can easily determine what needs to be done. Often time stress is created because there is no clear picture of a solution to the particular situation. By stepping back and taking the opportunity to look at the situation you can eliminate this. The second issue that usually comes from a stressful situation is, knowing what the solution but not knowing how to get to it. This can be for projects as well. Break down the situation or what needs to be done into smaller pieces. One at a time or in larger pieces then break it down into smaller components. Large projects or huge situations tend to cause people to stress out unnecessarily due to size by breaking it down into component parts you can focus on a single area at a time reducing or eliminating the stress. Leave yourself enough time. Stressful situations often arise because of performance requirements. If you have the option of choosing a deadline, look over the project or situation, split it up and give a high estimate of how long it will take to complete. This gives you enough to handle any situations which arise at the same time allowing you the opportunity to complete the project ahead of schedule without a huge amount of stress that comes with trying to complete something that takes 2 weeks in 1 week. A good portion of the stress that occurs in life is of our own making. People choose to make a situation stressful when it does not have to be. If given the opportunity take the time to choose not to stress about a situation. Not only will you be better able to handle the situations that come up but you will be able to do so more effectively. You will also be able to maintain a better level of health and mental clarity because you are not unnecessarily using resources from your body. Remember there are very few situations that actually require the level of stress that we generate when handling them. Take the time to look over a situation completely before deciding to stress over it you may find there is no need for stress at all.
