# Put Down The Chocolate Cake And Step Away From The Ice Cream - Stress Alert

You may be completely unaware of the fact that stress can have a large impact on obesity and weight problems. Obesity is simply so common today, that people are not taking the time to trace its cause back to what is really bringing on these symptoms of overeating. If you are feeling stressed out, what do you do to deal with it? People all over the world are turning to the chocolate cake in their fridge, the ice cream in their freezer and the candy bars in the bottom of their purses to deal with these stressors in their lives without realizing that the stress is actually allowing them to make things worse. Stress and obesity have a strong link with one another, not only because obesity can cause additional stress, but because stress is more than capable of causing obesity.

One of the largest causes of obesity today is overeating, and overeating is commonly caused by stressors that the person believes to be beyond his or her control. The lifestyles of so many people these days are both stressful and hectic, and this is leading to chronic issues with overeating. Overeating becomes so common that obesity is just right around the corner - And there simply are not enough people out there making the connection between obesity and stress so the problem is not being properly addressed.

When you are feeling stressed out, it can make you feel hungry even when you are not. Because of this, it becomes more common for a stressed out person to turn to fast food or junk food to meet a need, even though these foods come in enormous portions with more sugar, fat and salt than the body should be consuming at any one time. Stress has been increasing at a truly alarming rate over the past couple of decades, and along with this obvious increase in stress, the rate of obesity has also climbed at startling numbers.

Stress is a large contributor to obesity, and it truly does begin with turning to comfort foods to deal with stressful situations. No matter how stressed out you find yourself feeling, you need to stop yourself before you reach for the candy, the cookie dough or the ice cream in the back of your freezer. You may feel like you need or want those items, but nothing positive will come from turning to them for support. If you need support for stressful feelings or situations, turn to a human companion and leave the ice cream for your kids.

There are many other ways that you can deal with the stressors in your life without turning toward food as a comfort. Your stress is only going to make you feel hungry when you should not be, and chronic overeating just like this is exactly what leads to obesity. Obesity is only going to add to your daily stress, so why wage that risk?
